Basura Basters!

The area where we mainly work is located on a hill and people there live in peace even though most families are very poor.
Sorry to say, there is a lot of trash around the community. Once we go to the backyard of the houses, we are very shocked to find the field is littered with plastic bags, paper, glass bottles or other kinds of trashes.

So elementary school children played a game, “Basura Basters”. They competed for how much garbage they could pick up in 30 minutes around the open space.

They enjoyed collecting garbage and seemed happy to get cleaner playground. They also learned how important it is to separate the garbage, recycle and reuse materials.
